DHA and longevity
DHA plays a supporting role in longevity. DHA is the primary structural omega-3 in the brain (~97% of brain omega-3s) and retina (~93% of retinal omega-3s). Critical during pregnancy for fetal brain development — minimum 200-300mg DHA recommended.
How much dha do you need
Research points to 250–1000 mg as the effective range for dha. 250mg minimum for vision/brain maintenance; 500-1000mg for cognitive outcomes. Lower doses may provide some benefit, but most studies showing clear results used this range.
What the research says
The clinical evidence for dha in longevity is strong. DHA constitutes ~97% of brain omega-3s. RCTs confirm benefits for cognitive function, visual acuity, and fetal neurodevelopment. Learn more
