Chinese sumac (Rhus chinensis) and its galls (Galla chinensis) are a traditional Chinese medicine tannin source used historically for dysentery, cough, and bleeding. Modern evidence is limited to rodent studies showing effects on hyperuricemia, blood glucose, and gastric ulcers with high-dose extracts; no human clinical trials were identified.
