About Siberian Ginseng

Eleuthero (Siberian ginseng) is an adaptogenic herb. One small RCT (20 elderly, 300 mg/day) showed transient social functioning improvement at 4 weeks that didn't persist at 8 weeks. A chronic fatigue RCT (2 g/day) found no significant difference vs placebo. The EMA monograph notes clinical evidence is insufficient to assess effectiveness due to heterogeneous preparations. Well-characterized adaptogens with decades of traditional use, but robust RCT support is lacking.

What Siberian Ginseng supports

  • Traditionally used as an adaptogen for stress and fatigue — limited RCT support

How much Siberian Ginseng to take

The RDA prevents deficiency. The effective range is what clinical trials used to actually move the outcome.

mg

Extract standardized to 0.8% eleutherosides B+E: 300–400 mg/day. Whole root powder: 2–4 g/day. Evidence quality is low due to poor standardization across studies.
