About Siberian Ginseng
Eleuthero (Siberian ginseng) is an adaptogenic herb. One small RCT (20 elderly, 300 mg/day) showed transient social functioning improvement at 4 weeks that didn't persist at 8 weeks. A chronic fatigue RCT (2 g/day) found no significant difference vs placebo. The EMA monograph notes clinical evidence is insufficient to assess effectiveness due to heterogeneous preparations. Well-characterized adaptogens with decades of traditional use, but robust RCT support is lacking.
What Siberian Ginseng supports
- Traditionally used as an adaptogen for stress and fatigue — limited RCT support
How much Siberian Ginseng to take
Clinical studies typically use 300–400 mg of Siberian Ginseng. Extract standardized to 0.8% eleutherosides B+E: 300–400 mg/day. Whole root powder: 2–4 g/day. Evidence quality is low due to poor standardization across studies.
- Effective range
- 300–400 mg
Clinical evidence
Limited clinical evidence. Decades of traditional use, but clinical trial evidence is insufficient per European agency review
