About Panicum miliaceum

Millet seed extract is rich in miliacin (a triterpene), silicic acid, and amino acids (particularly cysteine and methionine) that are precursors to keratin. In vitro studies show miliacin stimulates keratinocyte proliferation. Preliminary clinical data suggest improved hair growth and reduced shedding. Also contains B vitamins and zinc naturally. Generally well tolerated; gluten-free despite being a grain. No established RDA/UL.

What Panicum miliaceum supports

  • Contains miliacin, which may stimulate keratin production for stronger hair
  • Provides amino acids (cysteine, methionine) that are building blocks for hair protein

How much Panicum miliaceum to take

Clinical studies typically use 50–200 mg of Panicum miliaceum. Hair supplements typically use 50–200 mg of standardized millet seed extract per serving.

Effective range
50–200 mg

Clinical evidence

Limited clinical evidence. Mostly lab studies showing keratin stimulation; very limited human clinical data
