About D-Ribose
A pentose sugar that participates in ATP regeneration. Small studies suggest possible benefit in congestive heart failure, fibromyalgia and post-exertional fatigue, but trials are small and often industry-funded; benefit in healthy or athletic populations is not established. ⚠️ Can cause mild transient hypoglycemia; use caution with insulin or oral antidiabetic drugs.
What D-Ribose supports
- Sugar involved in cellular energy (ATP) regeneration
How much D-Ribose to take
The RDA prevents deficiency. The effective range is what clinical trials used to actually move the outcome.
Effective
5–15
g
Trials in heart failure and fatigue used 5 g three times daily (15 g/day).
Clinical evidence
Limited clinical evidence. Small, often industry-funded trials; no clear benefit in healthy people
