About Eriocitrin
A flavanone glycoside abundant in lemons and limes. One industry-funded RCT (Ribeiro 2019, n=103 prediabetics) using Eriomin branded extract showed improvements in fasting glucose, insulin resistance, HbA1c, and inflammatory markers (hsCRP, IL-6, TNF-α) over 12 weeks. A second smaller crossover trial confirmed effects via GLP-1 increase. Antioxidant activity demonstrated in vitro. Bioavailability of the parent compound is low, but gut microbiota hydrolyze it to eriodictyol, which is better absorbed. No independent replication outside the Eriomin research group.
What Eriocitrin supports
- Antioxidant activity in preclinical models
- One RCT showed improved glycemic markers in prediabetics
How much Eriocitrin to take
The RDA prevents deficiency. The effective range is what clinical trials used to actually move the outcome.
Effective
200–800
mg
One 12-week RCT (n=103, prediabetics) tested 200, 400, and 800 mg/day of Eriomin extract with similar efficacy across all doses. 200 mg is the lowest tested dose.
Clinical evidence
Limited clinical evidence. Two RCTs from one research group using branded Eriomin extract in prediabetics; no independent replication
