About Lactium

Bioactive decapeptide (alpha-casozepine) derived from bovine alpha-s1 casein via tryptic hydrolysis. Binds GABA-A receptors with benzodiazepine-like anxiolytic action without dependence risk. Kim 2007 DB-RCT (63 women, 150 mg/day, 30 days) showed reduced stress symptoms across multiple domains. Kim 2019 DB-RCT (48 participants, 300 mg/day) improved sleep efficiency. No meta-analysis exists. Small sample sizes and manufacturer (Ingredia) involvement across studies.

What Lactium supports

  • May reduce stress symptoms (1 DB-RCT, 63 women)
  • May improve sleep efficiency (1 DB-RCT, 48 participants)

How much Lactium to take

Clinical studies typically use 150–300 mg of Lactium. RCTs used 150–300 mg/day. Kim 2007 used 150 mg/day for stress; Kim 2019 used 300 mg/day for sleep.
