About Inositol-Stabilized Arginine Silicate
Nitrosigine is a patented (Nutrition21) complex of arginine bonded with silicate and stabilized by inositol, marketed as a nitric-oxide/blood-flow booster for pre-workout pumps, energy, and acute cognition. It raises plasma arginine bioavailability for several hours; an increase in a nitric-oxide marker (salivary nitrite) appeared after roughly two weeks of use rather than acutely (manufacturer data), attributed in part to reduced arginase breakdown. Human evidence is limited to small RCTs (typically n=16-30 healthy adults) that are almost entirely funded and authored by the manufacturer; outcomes are overwhelmingly biomarkers (nitric oxide, flow-mediated dilation) or subjective/cognitive proxies (Trail-Making Test, perceived pump/energy), while hard performance endpoints such as strength, power, and endurance are unchanged or untested. No independent replication or meta-analyses. Low evidence. Well tolerated at 1.5 g/day short-term; theoretical additive hypotension with nitrates or blood-pressure medication.
