About Pterostilbene
A methylated stilbene found in blueberries, structurally related to resveratrol but with greater oral bioavailability and longer half-life. A double-blind RCT (Riche 2014) at 125 mg twice daily lowered blood pressure but raised LDL cholesterol (~+17 mg/dL), with no clear net benefit. Clinical evidence remains limited.
What Pterostilbene supports
- Resveratrol-like stilbene with better bioavailability
How much Pterostilbene to take
The RDA prevents deficiency. The effective range is what clinical trials used to actually move the outcome.
Effective
50–250
mg
Trials have used 50-250 mg/day. A dimethylated analog of resveratrol with higher oral bioavailability.
Clinical evidence
Limited clinical evidence. Limited RCT data; one trial showed BP increase with no clear lipid benefit
