About Strontium
A bone-seeking mineral. Prescription strontium ranelate has RCT evidence for reducing fracture risk in osteoporosis but carries cardiovascular and clotting warnings. OTC strontium citrate is assumed equivalent on the elemental basis but has not been independently trialed. Strontium interferes with DXA bone-density readings, overstating measured BMD.

How much Strontium to take
The RDA prevents deficiency. The effective range is what clinical trials used to actually move the outcome.
Effective
340–680
mg
Bone supplements provide ~340-680 mg/day of elemental strontium (as citrate). Prescription strontium ranelate used 680 mg elemental strontium/day.
Clinical evidence
Moderate clinical evidence. Prescription ranelate has fracture RCTs but CV warnings; OTC citrate untested
