NOW Super Primrose is evening primrose oil, a supplement marketed for skin health, PMS, and breast tenderness — but the clinical evidence behind those uses is weak. Each softgel gives you 1,300mg of **evening primrose oil**, supplying 120mg of GLA, the omega-6 fatty acid that does the actual work. A Cochrane review found EPO no better than placebo for eczema, and reviews of PMS and breast-pain studies have come back inconsistent.

GLA's stronger RCT evidence is in rheumatoid arthritis and diabetic nerve pain, but those trials used 240mg per day and up — so even two softgels (240mg GLA) only just reaches the bottom of that range. Keep in mind GLA is an omega-6 your body can typically produce on its own from common dietary oils, so for most healthy people this isn't correcting a shortfall.

The score analyzes what's on the label: ingredient doses vs. clinical ranges, chemical forms, evidence levels, and known interactions. It does not verify label accuracy or test for contaminants — for that, look for third-party certifications like USP or NSF.
