About Fenugreek Seed Extract
Fenugreek seeds contain soluble fiber (galactomannan) that slows carbohydrate digestion and glucose absorption, plus 4-hydroxyisoleucine, an amino acid that stimulates insulin secretion. Meta-analyses support significant reductions in fasting blood glucose and HbA1c. Also studied for testosterone support (Testofen extract) and lactation support. May cause maple syrup odor in sweat/urine (harmless). Generally well tolerated. No established RDA/UL.
What Fenugreek Seed Extract supports
- Soluble fiber slows glucose absorption; 4-hydroxyisoleucine stimulates insulin
- Testofen extract may support healthy testosterone levels
- Meta-analyses show significant reduction in fasting glucose and HbA1c
- Dual benefit: metabolic and hormonal support from the same plant
How much Fenugreek Seed Extract to take
The RDA prevents deficiency. The effective range is what clinical trials used to actually move the outcome.
Effective
500–1000
mg
Most glucose studies use 500–1000 mg/day of defatted seed extract. Testofen (standardized for fenuside) is used at 600 mg/day for testosterone support. The soluble fiber fraction (galactomannan) is key for glucose effects.
Clinical evidence
Moderate clinical evidence. Meta-analyses support blood sugar reduction; also studied for testosterone (Testofen extract)
