MaltodextrinBinder

Spikes blood sugar faster than table sugar (glycemic index 85–105). Research links it to gut bacteria changes that may promote intestinal inflammation (Nickerson et al. 2015). Used as a cheap filler — adds nothing beneficial.

IsomaltSweetener

A poorly-absorbed sugar alcohol that can cause bloating, gas, and laxative effects at higher doses (EFSA notes laxative threshold for polyols). Tolerable for most, but cumulative across products.

Fruit Juice (unspecified)Colorant

Juice or juice concentrate used primarily for natural color and flavor in gummies

MonoglyceridesEmulsifier

Glycerol monoesters of fatty acids used as emulsifiers and processing lubricants

Sunflower Seed OilCarrier

Common vegetable oil from sunflower seeds used as a carrier in softgels for fat-soluble nutrients

Mixed TocopherolsAntioxidant

Natural vitamin E used as preservative

How to Take It

Best taken in the evening

Contains Tryptophan, so it belongs in the evening. Take it with food — the niacin and potassium in it are what makes this kind of product feel nauseating on an empty stomach.

With food
Keep it away from protein-heavy meals, medication and mineral supplements
Space it a couple of hours from Iron, Magnesium, Zinc and SAMe

On the label

Add one serving (2 scoops) to 8-10 ounces of water, skim milk, whole milk or your favorite beverage and shake for 30-60 seconds.

Do not combine with St. John's Wort

Each of these raises serotonin activity on top of St. John's Wort, and together they can trigger serotonin syndrome — agitation, rapid heartbeat, raised blood pressure. Not without medical supervision.

General guidance based on the ingredients, not a substitute for the label or your doctor.

Sources & Scoring

Nutrient data (RDA, UL, and safety thresholds) sourced from: NIH Office of Dietary Supplements and National Academies Dietary Reference Intakes (DRI).

This is not medical advice. Consult a healthcare provider before making changes to your supplement routine.

The score analyzes what's on the label: ingredient doses vs. clinical ranges, chemical forms, evidence levels, and known interactions. It does not verify label accuracy or test for contaminants — for that, look for third-party certifications like USP or NSF.
