Rice FlourFiller
Rice-based ingredients carry risk of inorganic arsenic contamination (FDA and Consumer Reports). Rice accumulates arsenic from soil at higher rates than other grains. Used as a cheap filler — adds nothing beneficial.
BiotinFood
Vitamin B7, a water-soluble B-vitamin.
Folic AcidVitamin
Synthetic form of vitamin B9 used for fortification — supports red blood cell formation and neural tube development. Pharmacologically distinct from the natural/active form (5-methyltetrahydrofolate, methylfolate).
Magnesium StearateLubricant
A salt of stearic acid used as a lubricant in tablet and capsule production
Silicon DioxideAnti-caking
Fine silica powder used to prevent clumping
Capsule ShellCapsule
Generic capsule shell where the label does not specify the material. Common materials are hypromellose (HPMC) for vegetarian capsules and gelatin for traditional capsules — both are GRAS-listed and safe. Fish gelatin and pullulan variants also exist.
NicotinamideVitamin
Amide form of vitamin B3 used for fortification; supports cellular energy and NAD+ synthesis without flushing
L-5-Hydroxytryptophan

How to Take It
Best taken in the evening
Contains 5-HTP, so it belongs in the evening. Take it with food — the zinc and niacin in it are what makes this kind of product feel nauseating on an empty stomach.
5-HTP does better on an empty stomach, but something else in this bottle needs food. Taking the whole product with a meal is the better trade — an upset stomach is why most people stop.
On the label
Take 1 capsule a day preferably before bed with a carbohydrate snack. Do not exceed recommended daily intake. Food supplements should not be used as a substitute for a varied and balanced diet and healthy lifestyle.
Each of these raises serotonin activity on top of St. John's Wort, and together they can trigger serotonin syndrome — agitation, rapid heartbeat, raised blood pressure. Not without medical supervision.
General guidance based on the ingredients, not a substitute for the label or your doctor.

Sources & Scoring
Nutrient data (RDA, UL, and safety thresholds) sourced from: NIH Office of Dietary Supplements and National Academies Dietary Reference Intakes (DRI).
This is not medical advice. Consult a healthcare provider before making changes to your supplement routine.
The score analyzes what's on the label: ingredient doses vs. clinical ranges, chemical forms, evidence levels, and known interactions. It does not verify label accuracy or test for contaminants — for that, look for third-party certifications like USP or NSF.
