Why Berberine HCl for Liver

Berberine HCl plays a supporting role in liver. Berberine is an isoquinoline alkaloid found in plants like goldenseal, barberry, and Oregon grape. It activates AMPK (AMP-activated protein kinase), a key metabolic regulator sometimes called the 'metabolic master switch.' Standard berberine HCl has only ~5% oral bioavailability due to extensive first-pass metabolism and P-glycoprotein efflux in the gut.

What dose to look for

Clinical studies typically use 5001500 mg of berberine hcl. Most clinical studies use 500–1500 mg/day in divided doses (2–3× daily with meals). The 1500 mg/day dose showed comparable efficacy to metformin in some glucose metabolism studies. Dihydroberberine is a more bioavailable form used at lower doses (~200–300 mg). Products below this range may not deliver meaningful results.
