Why Lipase for Digestion
Lipase plays a supporting role in digestion. Fat-digesting enzyme. Strong evidence exists for prescription-level PERT in pancreatic insufficiency, but evidence for OTC supplement doses (500-3,000 FIP) in healthy adults is very limited. In clinical studies, lipase supports fat digestion and nutrient absorption.
What dose to look for
Clinical studies typically use 1000–3000 fip of lipase. 1,000-3,000 FIP per serving for OTC digestive support. Below 1,000 FIP is considered ineffective for fat digestion. Prescription PERT uses 25,000-50,000 FIP/meal for pancreatic insufficiency. Products below this range may not deliver meaningful results.
